Parasol installation for Lahpet Restaurant, Bethnal Green
How can we turn an unused ship like deck into a great place to eat and extend the number of diners who could be catered for by the popular Lahpet East London restaurant? This was the question put to our designers and our solution was this stunning retractable pergola awning system which provides shade on sunny days and shelter and less friendly ones.
Whilst most of our awnings are manufactured in our London factory, when necessary, we will incorporate specialist products and, in this case, the Markilux Pergola with its zipped tensioned cover which fitted the bill perfectly whilst preventing water ingress. Electrically operated with an integrated low voltage halogen lighting effect customers can now enjoy Burmese cuisine in fine, and less fine, weather.
This pop-up-turned-permanent restaurant is a buzzing spot run by two friends, both of Burmese heritage where you can sit at the counter and order some cocktails to start.
Shoreditch and Bethnal Green: could anywhere else be more “London” than these two tiny Hamlets? Which is what they were up to the 1700’s. Since then, through Oliver Twist, The Blitz, The Kray twins and the “Firm” right up today’s trendy gentrification this part of London has been ever transforming itself and no doubt the story will not end there.
