Hardwood Timber Box Awnings – The Traditional British Design

During the 19th century, the installation of the traditional Victorian-style awnings was accompanied by a limited colour selection.

Traditionally, awnings were constructed using canvas sail cloth fabric, which was typically dyed in a subdued beige colour. The name of the business was then hand-painted onto the awning using black paint. During the Victorian era, carpenters took great pride in the art of creating complex timber shapes by hand, despite the variations in the design of the awning box and lath. This meticulous craftsmanship was achieved through the use of hand tools and traditional techniques.

At The Commercial Awning Company, we use CAD to cost-effectively recreate traditional designs.
Incorporating modern technology for precision and accuracy, our replication process is crafted to emulate the original designs that have proven their worth over time.
